Advance Care Directives

With increasing life expectancy and medical advances, many clients are anxious to avoid being kept alive when they have no quality of life at all. While it is possible to outline your wishes briefly when appointing an enduring guardian, it is probably more practical to sign an Advance Care Directive which I can prepare and sets out your wishes in detail.

In practice, a medical practitioner facing both a care directive, and a close relative with strong wishes contrary to the directive, is in a very difficult position and the directive may not be followed at all times. However, hopefully in the majority of cases it will be effective and at least outlines your wishes clearly.
